The Arrow of
Time
Whilst the mathematical laws of nature do
not contain an Arrow of Time, it may be possible to deduce by analogy the Arrow of Time from the cornerstone
of First Science, the unifying principle "laws of nature
exist".
The unifying principle represents the
master symmetry of nature, since the laws of nature remain unchanged for
all changes in the knowable universe. The corresponding master conservation
law is
postulated to be "conservation of the universe," where the
conserved quantity is one universe. If the master symmetry and
master conservation law correspond to each other then, according to
generalizations of Noether's theorem, the master symmetry must not be time
reversible. That is, the laws of nature must not be time
reversible. In other words, there must exist a Master Arrow of Time.
Now we see that from the single unifying principle
"laws of nature exist," it is
possible to deduce features of both the Theory of Everything and the Master
Arrow of Time:
The Master Arrow of Time is
the source of the many directions of time observed in nature, including
the causal, cosmological, radioactive, electromagnetic, aging and
thermodynamic arrows of time. Moreover, the Master Arrow of Time is
the source of evolution in all the sciences and, as a result, has
widespread implications for all of science, including the evolution of
complexity (see book).
